Sedum green roof on primary school in Anderlecht

Vice Verda was responsible for installing the green roofs on the primary school in Anderlecht. The passive nursery and primary school with sports hall will welcome 750 pupils. Due to the population growth in Anderlecht, there is a high demand for school and sports infrastructure. On the one hand, the project aims to set an example in terms of energy performance, but also to teach children to use energy sparingly.

As vegetation for the green roofs, we chose a lot of diversity in species - succulents, flowers and herbs. In this way, we wanted to achieve a wide range of colours and heights. The permanent presence of vegetation and (flowering) plants attracts bees and other beneficial insects and increases biodiversity in the area.
