What is a biodiverse green roof
With a biodivers green roof, you contribute to maintaining biodiversity around your home. This diverse, flower- and herb-rich vegetation creates a nice habitat for bees, butterflies and other insects.

Construction of a green roof
Vegetation
In addition to different types of Sedum, you can also choose different types of herbs and wild flowers ( e.g. Thyme, carnations) but various bulbous plants can also add nice accents (e.g. Iris).
Substrate layer
Thicker substrate layer - minus 8 cm, making herbs and flowers more resistant to long dry spells and able to grow and flower profusely.
Filter layer
Separation layer between substrate and drainage. Allows excess water to pass through and makes the water in the drainage layer available to the vegetation through condensation.
Drainage layer
Drain excess water to roof drains. Water reservoirs are present in this layer such that sufficient water is available for plants during dry periods.
Protection and absorption layer
Protection of the roof against mechanical damage; at the same time, it also buffers a quantity of water.
